What kind of lights are used in wall washers?

2024-04-26

Wall washers typically use LED (Light Emitting Diode) lights due to their energy efficiency, longevity, and ability to produce a wide range of colors. LEDs are well-suited for wall washing applications because they can provide uniform illumination across large surfaces and are easily controllable for various lighting effects.

LED wall washers come in different configurations, including:

1. Single-color LEDs: These wall washers produce light in a single color, such as white, warm white, or a specific color (e.g., red, green, blue).

2. RGB LEDs: RGB (Red, Green, Blue) LEDs can produce a wide spectrum of colors by mixing different intensities of red, green, and blue light. They are commonly used in dynamic lighting applications where color-changing effects are desired.

3. RGBA LEDs: RGBA LEDs include an additional amber LED, allowing for a broader range of color mixing and warmer white tones.

4. RGBW LEDs: RGBW LEDs combine red, green, blue, and white LEDs, providing both colored light and pure white light output for enhanced versatility.

5. Tunable White LEDs: Tunable white LEDs allow for adjustable color temperature output, ranging from warm white to cool white. This feature is useful for creating different moods and atmospheres.

LED wall washers are available in various form factors, including linear strips, recessed fixtures, and surface-mounted fixtures. They are commonly used in architectural lighting to highlight and accentuate textured surfaces, artwork, or architectural features on walls, as well as in entertainment venues, hospitality spaces, and outdoor environments for decorative and functional lighting purposes.
